Russia's Defense Ministry says 822 drones were intercepted across 14+ regions in the same window. Rostov governor reports three killed and one hospitalized.
Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said 600 drones flew at the Moscow region from Sunday evening into 06:30 Monday local time, of which 201 were destroyed over the region. Three people were wounded in the MKAD area, Moscow's outer ring road, and are receiving all necessary assistance, according to the AFP wire republished by Punch.
Russia's Defense Ministry said air defenses intercepted 822 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight Aug. 15–16 across more than 14 Russian regions including Moscow, Krasnodar and Crimea, per TASS. The higher national count reflects the wider geography of the overnight barrage, not a contradiction of the regional figure.
In the southern Rostov region, which borders Ukraine, governor Yuri Sliusar said three people were killed and one hospitalized. Russian forces destroyed more than 150 drones and missiles over three cities and nine districts. Residential and industrial buildings were damaged in the Kamensky district; in Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, several buildings suffered roof damage and windows were blown out at an apartment block and the city railway station, the AFP wire reported.
The strikes landed in the fifth year of the war that began with Russia's 2022 full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
