Tesla will hold a "Cybercab Launch Event" on Sept. 3 in Austin, its first public showing of the production two-seat robotaxi, which the company designed from the start without a steering wheel or pedals. The event is invite-only but will be livestreamed, according to Tesla's X post and an invitation posted by Teslarati.
Per EPA regulatory filings reported by Car and Driver via Gizmodo, the Cybercab weighs 3,113 lb, roughly 700 lb lighter than the lightest Model 3, and pairs a 48 kWh battery with a single 219-horsepower front motor. Unadjusted range is 418 miles; The Verge reports real-world range lands closer to 290 to 300 miles after EPA testing adjustments, with a 165 watt-hours-per-mile efficiency rating.
Electrek reports Cybercab rides will fold into Tesla's existing Robotaxi app, which has been live in Texas since June 2025 and now also serves Florida. The same outlet estimates Tesla is running roughly 20 to 30 unsupervised vehicles at any given time. Waymo, by comparison, operates more than 3,000 autonomous vehicles across 11 or more cities.
The vehicle Tesla puts in front of the public on Sept. 3 is the one the company expects to feed that fleet.
