8VC, an Anduril and Shield AI backer, joins the Lagos startup's extended seed as it pitches African militaries an alternative to fragmented, foreign dominated supply chains.
Terra Industries closed a $52M extended seed round, with Joe Lonsdale's 8VC joining Silent Ventures and Nova Global in an $18M extension on top of earlier 2026 rounds totaling $33.75M. 8VC also backs Anduril, reportedly raising at a $100B valuation, and Shield AI.
The Lagos-headquartered company, launched in 2024, builds autonomous systems, drones, and mine-detecting combat vehicles for African militaries. Terra pitches itself against the fragmented and "easily destabilized" supply chains African states depend on. Those chains are dominated by Western, Russian, and Chinese security suppliers.
Terra says it is on track to book $100M in contracts, including at least one federal deal, and to generate "tens of millions of dollars" in revenue by year-end. Those figures are company-stated, not market-confirmed. Use of the new capital includes a London office and stated plans for San Francisco and Washington, D.C. outposts to access U.S. capital and partnerships.
The round was corroborated across African and defense outlets including TechCabal, TechNext24, Innovation Village, and Tectonic Defense.
