The Alquor 2.0 photonic quantum processor ships in 8 , 20 , and 32 mode (optical channel) silicon nitride chip configurations for university and corporate quantum optics labs.
QuiX Quantum has put a photonic quantum processor into a standardized 3U server rack and disclosed commercial list prices for the first time. The Enschede, Netherlands company's Alquor 2.0 ships in three configurations: 8-mode, 20-mode, and 32-mode, built on silicon nitride photonic chips and housed in the company's Photonic Assembly Control Unit (PACU) chassis.
List pricing runs €240,000 (~$276,000 USD) for the 8-mode, €490,000 (~$564,000 USD) for the 20-mode, and €790,000 (~$910,000 USD) for the 32-mode (The Qubit Report). The 3U, 19-inch ruggedized chassis connects via Ethernet, takes Python commands, and uses air cooling, replacing the room-filling optical tables that quantum optics labs have historically hand-aligned. The control design can manage up to 1,000 thermo-optic modulators, and 32 high-speed RF connectors support external control and future fast feed-forward.
The 32-mode is the genuinely new piece. QuiX has a published 2022 paper documenting a 20-mode universal quantum photonic processor, so the 8- and 20-mode variants rest on a known design while the 32-mode is a scale-up. QuiX says more than 20 prior-generation Alquor systems are deployed at research institutions worldwide, though institutional adoption of the new line is not disclosed.
The target market is research: university and corporate labs running quantum optics, boson sampling, and quantum information processing experiments, where rack-mountable photonic hardware (arXiv:2512.08433, arXiv:2601.05947) replaces hand-built optical tables.
