Vendor published benchmarks on NVIDIA's new data center CPU show per core gains at the verification step before fabrication — the moment a design is handed off to a fab (tape out).
NVIDIA's new Vera CPU delivered a 1.5x speedup in chip-verification workloads run by Cadence and Synopsys, the two dominant vendors of the design and verification software every chip must pass through before tape-out, according to NVIDIA's own initial tests.
The benchmark targets two flagship verification tools: Cadence Jasper, used for formal verification and ML-driven bug hunting, and Synopsys VCS, used for functional simulation. In the Synopsys VCS test, NVIDIA ran the workload on the same number of cores as the comparison system, so the 1.5x gain comes from Vera's core, memory subsystem, and on-chip IP rather than from added cores.
Chip verification gates every tape-out, the moment a design goes to a fab, so a per-core efficiency win at that step lets engineering teams evaluate more design alternatives or run longer regression sweeps inside the same development window.
Vera is a new data-center CPU with no public track record, and the 1.5x figure comes from NVIDIA's own partner-setup tests rather than an independent benchmark. The result is part of a wider NVIDIA push into EDA, including the Agent Toolkit expansion that adds AI-physics and sparse-solver skills adjacent to the same workload class.
