Annualized revenue has tripled to more than $750 million in eight months, but Perplexity declined to comment and Nvidia did not immediately respond.
Nvidia is in talks to invest in Perplexity, the AI search and answer-engine startup, in a round that would value the company at north of $30 billion, per The Information. The price tag is up more than 50% from Perplexity's roughly $20 billion mark about a year ago.
The deal reflects a fast-scaling revenue base. Perplexity's annualized revenue has climbed from less than $250 million at the start of 2026 to more than $750 million now, Reuters reports, with its Perplexity Computer cloud agent for professional workflows cited as a growth driver. At more than $750 million on a $30 billion-plus valuation, the implied multiple is roughly 40x annualized revenue, a price that requires sustained growth to justify.
Nvidia did not immediately respond, according to Rappler's pass on the report. One possible structure under discussion is a licensing arrangement rather than a pure equity round, CryptoBriefing noted, a framing not yet reconciled with the wire language.
The cap table already includes Jeff Bezos and SoftBank Group. Microsoft has a reported $750 million Azure arrangement with the company, and CEO Aravind Srinivas has told CNBC the startup plans to go public in 2028. The round, if it closes, would be Perplexity's first public-style pricing on the way to that listing.
