The strategic partnership, announced 10 August 2026, names AWS as Novo Nordisk's preferred cloud provider and embeds AWS engineers and scientists inside an existing Novo Nordisk research site, the company said in its press release. The hub runs Amazon Bio Discovery, which lets bench biologists design drug molecules using plain-language instructions rather than code, trade coverage reports.
That work builds on an existing Bedrock-based platform that more than 25,000 Novo Nordisk employees already use across roughly 2,500 chatbot use cases, with one deployment processing about 140,000 documents and more than 26,000 prompts a month.
The clearest benchmark so far is narrower: an AWS case study reports clinical-study documentation, previously a 40-to-50-person, up-to-15-week job, was reduced to minutes for a three-person team using Anthropic's Claude 3.5 via Bedrock, a more than 90% time cut. Medical professionals still review and validate the output. The figure covers paperwork, not drug discovery, and has not been independently verified outside AWS.
The deal follows Novo Nordisk's earlier work with NVIDIA on the Gefion supercomputer. Trade coverage describes AWS as roughly Novo Nordisk's third major AI infrastructure partner in a year, though a second prior partner is not named in the available material.
