A regulatory filing four months after the March deal announcement puts a cash number on what owned AI post production tooling is worth at a major streamer.
Netflix paid $587 million in cash for InterPositive, the AI post-production startup co-founded by Ben Affleck, according to a Q2 2026 regulatory filing with the SEC. The dollar figure surfaces four months after Netflix announced the deal in March without a price.
The disclosed number gives Hollywood a concrete price for owned AI post-production tooling at a major streamer, attached to a named startup and a recognizable founder. InterPositive's tools target the unglamorous half of post-production: filling in missing shots, swapping out backgrounds, and correcting lighting. That work is today typically handled by VFX vendors or by manual cleanup. The startup's framing, per Netflix's announcement, is "real-world production challenges" rather than generative video from scratch.
The full InterPositive team is moving to Netflix, and Affleck is joining as a senior advisor. The acquisition folds the tooling into Netflix's content pipeline, where it sits alongside the streamer's existing use of generative AI. Netflix separately disclosed in its most recent earnings report that roughly 300 of its titles have already used generative AI, a figure that predates the InterPositive close and is not tied to this deal in the filing.
Affleck, in Netflix's announcement, framed the deal as a guardrail: "I want to use these tools to protect the power of human creativity." The quote is positioning, not a third-party assessment of what generative video does to filmmaking labor. The 10-Q does not connect the ~300-titles figure to InterPositive's tools.
The $587 million is the cash component of the price. TechCrunch had earlier reported the deal could reach up to $600 million, a gap most likely explained by earnouts or contingent consideration that the 10-Q does not enumerate. The disclosed $587M is the anchor; the $600M is the ceiling.
