A 200 megawatt expansion at NAVER's Sejong hyperscale data center with a 1 gigawatt target. The Brookfield and NVIDIA money hinges on NAVER raising $9 billion of its own first.
NAVER, the Korean search and cloud operator, NVIDIA, and Brookfield, a global asset manager, are tripling the NVIDIA DSX AI factory at NAVER's Sejong hyperscale data center in Sejong, South Korea, from 55 megawatts to 200 megawatts of AI compute capacity, with a stated 1-gigawatt target as part of Korea's "sovereign AI" push: a nationally controlled AI compute footprint.
The buildout will run on NVIDIA's DSX reference design, drawing on Vera Rubin and Blackwell platforms. Both checks are conditional: NVIDIA's planned $1 billion equity investment in NAVER is contingent on customary closing conditions; Brookfield has signed a nonbinding term sheet for up to $9 billion, gated on NAVER first raising at least $9 billion of separate committed financing. NAVER covers the remainder.
NAVER closed Friday at KRW 207,500 (about $150 at approximate 2026 rates), down 5.68% on the Korean exchange, a move the RTTNews wire does not explain. The expansion timeline, the gigawatt milestone, and the full capital stack all turn on whether NAVER can line up that $9 billion in third-party commitments before the term sheet and the equity check close.
