Project Nexus is a tender for a domestic platform; awards wait for the tech to mature. A parallel July call, worth about $33M, already funds a 12 month R&D facility integrating three quantum technologies.
Israel's national quantum program runs on two tracks, and the August 5 Project Nexus tender is the back half. The Prime Minister's Office National AI Directorate and the Finance Ministry's Accountant General's Department issued the tender for a domestically produced "Blue and White" national quantum computing platform, framed as multi-technology and long-horizon. Awards will follow only after the underlying technology reaches sufficient maturity; the multi-stage process is expected to span several years.
A separate Israel Innovation Authority call from July 2026, worth roughly NIS 100 million (about $33 million USD), is financing a national quantum R&D infrastructure that must integrate at least three distinct quantum processing technologies, begin delivering services within 12 months of approval, and reach full establishment within 18 months.
Both tracks sit under Government Decision 4255, the national AI strategy framework. Erez Eskel directs the National AI Directorate; Evyatar Peretz chairs the Special Tenders Committee. Two parallel RFIs cover a national Physical AI simulation environment and pathways to foundational-model sovereignty.
No funding total, technical specifications, vendor list, or delivery date for Project Nexus itself have been disclosed. What to watch next: the IIA R&D facility's service launch, targeted within 12 months of approval. Project Nexus has no announced date.
