Delhi-based AI vendor Innefu Labs has signed a research memorandum of understanding with the Institute Incubation and Innovation Council (I3C) at IIT Jammu, publishing a six-item scope list that the company is presenting as the seed of an Indian sovereign-AI research program for national security.
The MoU, reported by ANI and republished by the Texas Guardian, names six capability areas: intelligence-fusion AI, secure system design and zero-trust architectures (systems that verify every access request rather than trust internal networks), identity and key management, AI-based cyber forensics, drone forensics (analyzing drone hardware and software for intelligence use), and open-source intelligence analysis across the deep and dark web. IIT Jammu holds the "Institute of National Importance" designation, placing it under direct central-government oversight.
Innefu CEO Tarun Wig said the partnership is intended to lay "foundational research" for sovereign-AI capability inside Indian institutions, rather than "incremental improvements to existing tools."
