The mechanism is a specific electronic-warfare problem and a specific technical fix, not a general leap in "AI weapons." GPS jamming has become a constant on the modern battlefield, and any FPV drone that depends on satellite lock goes blind the moment it flies behind a tree line or into a contested pocket. Auterion's Skynode S kit, the autonomy package now being shipped to Ukraine, ignores GPS for terminal guidance and runs on the drone's own camera. The operator flies the airframe into a target area, designates a target up to half a mile away, then hands off to the onboard system. As long as the radio link holds, the operator can abort or retarget. If jamming or terrain kills the link, the drone continues autonomous tracking on its own.
