Air suspension and LiDAR (the laser sensor that maps roads in 3D) are now Chinese in the ADAS (advanced driver assistance) build, while driving assist, cameras, and parking remain global.
China's auto suppliers have not won the advanced driver-assistance (ADAS) stack in one sweep. They have won two of its segments, and the other three are still being fought over.
In the first five months of 2026, KH Automotive shipped 219,660 air-suspension sets into Leapmotor and Zeekr vehicles, more than a third of the country's total. Add Tuopu Group (188,869 sets, 30.3%) and Baolong Automotive (157,818 sets, 25.3%), and the top three local suppliers control 90.8% of China's air-suspension market, according to the Jan–May 2026 ADAS component rankings from Gasgoo Automotive Research Institute. The remaining 9.2% splits between Germany's Vibracoustic (3.6%, 22,325 sets) and AUMOVIO (3.0%, 18,490 sets), plus smaller players.
Air suspension is the pumped-air system that lets a car raise, lower, and cushion itself on demand, and the volume here tracks model launches: KH's growth is tied to Leapmotor and Zeekr, Tuopu's to Xiaomi EV and AITO, and Baolong's to NIO deliveries.
LiDAR is the second settled segment. The top four vendors shipping the laser sensors that build a 3D map of the road, Hesai Technology (595,373 units, 34.2%), Huawei Technologies (533,509 units, 30.6%), Seyond (259,747 units, 14.9%), and RoboSense (247,570 units, 14.2%), are all Chinese. Third-party reads back the direction: Hesai held the #1 spot in long-range ADAS LiDAR shipments in 2025 per Yole Group, RoboSense's robotics segment grew 1,458.8% year over year in Q1 2026, and Seyond's Q2 shipments rose 385%.
The rest of the ADAS stack still belongs to global suppliers. Gasgoo's own read names driving ADAS (the integrated software-and-sensor package that handles lane-keeping and adaptive cruise), forward-facing cameras, and automated parking assist (APA) as the segments where foreign vendors remain influential, even as more local players break into the top rankings. Trend baselines from Jan–Mar 2026 and Jan–Nov 2025 point the same way: localization is advancing segment by segment, not in a single leap.
Two model launches on the near horizon will test whether the air-suspension and LiDAR wins hold: the XPENG G7 and the NIO ES9, both expected to lift Baolong's volumes further. The next round of the contest sits in driving ADAS and forward-facing cameras, the two segments where Gasgoo's own data still names global suppliers as the pace-setters.
