The feature is available on web and iOS across Free, Go, Plus, and Pro tiers, letting ChatGPT pull from Apple Health, Kaiser Permanente, and One Medical during any conversation — not just inside a dedicated health tab. OpenAI is running it on GPT-5.6 Sol for paid tiers and GPT-5.5 Instant for the free tier. The data comes from the phone's health app via Apple's HealthKit framework; a per-chat permission prompt controls when ChatGPT can reference your records, and you can disconnect at any time.

OpenAI's stated policy: connected health data and the conversations that use it are not used to train foundation models, ads are not targeted on it, and you can disconnect. Those are OpenAI's claims, not independent guarantees. The same announcement carries a caveat OpenAI repeats: ChatGPT can be wrong and is not a diagnosis. The timing carries context: a pastor is suing OpenAI over alleged dangerous medical advice that delayed treatment of a pulmonary embolism, and a separate Apple trade-secret suit complicates the Apple Health dependency.
