BYD's Denza sub brand is rolling a cockpit AI assistant called Didi Xia to four models, with open agent protocols and 10+ partner integrations; NIO, Xpeng, and Huawei already ship similar systems.
BYD's 腾势 (Denza) sub-brand is rolling out an in-car "AI super-intelligent agent" called 迪迪虾 (Didi Xia) to four models via over-the-air update: the second-generation Denza D9, Denza N8L (flash-charge and pure-electric, with pure-electric shipping first), the new Denza Z9GT, and the Denza N9 flash-charge. The rollout follows BYD's May 28, 2026 "Dare" intelligence strategy event, where Yang Dongsheng, BYD Group SVP and head of the Auto New Technology Research Institute, presented the technical readout.
The agent runs on BYD's Xuanji (璇玑) 2.0 architecture, an upgrade of the company's cockpit-driving-electrical stack. It supports open A2A (agent-to-agent) and MCP (Model Context Protocol) standards, so third-party services plug in as agents rather than walled-garden skills. BYD names 10+ partners: travel (Fliggy), navigation (Amap), home IoT (COLMO), food delivery, audiobooks, four music services, short-video, payments, video, and large-language-model backends including Doubao and Qwen.
The architecture splits work between the car's compute and the cloud, framed by BYD as "small things instant, big things deep-thought." Persona features include voiceprint-based registration and a configurable "toxic-tongue" response mode.
"Industry first" is BYD's own framing. NIO's NOMI agents, Xpeng's XOS 5 ecosystem, Li Auto's MindGPT, and Huawei's HarmonyOS Cockpit already ship persistent cockpit assistants; the substantive move underneath the Didi Xia mascot is the open-protocol platform and the partner breadth, not the "first" label.
