Baidu is repositioning its office AI agent on whether the output (a finished report, slide, or dashboard) is actually usable, rather than on chat quality.
Baidu Dazi, the Chinese search giant's five-month-old office AI agent, said its monthly active users grew roughly 9x in the past month to about 6.74 million, as the company unveiled an enterprise tier and a "deliverable-ready" pitch at a Shanghai launch event on Aug. 27, 2026.
The product, branded in Chinese as 百度搭子, has been updated 150 times since launch, per Baidu. The company framed the upgrade as a shift from chat quality to finished outputs (slides, reports, dashboards, lightweight apps). Baidu Group EVP and Intelligent Cloud president Shen Dou (沈抖) tied retention to that bar, saying "product experience and delivery results are the determining factors in user retention" (Leiphone).
Baidu also released a self-reported 99%+ task completion rate and 30% lower token cost for its Harness engine, plus an enterprise version with 15 suites across finance, legal, R&D, and operations, and a professional tier pulling in 同花顺 (10jqka) financial data. An open benchmark, DuMateBench, debuted with 200 real office tasks; Baidu said Dazi topped PinchBench, a third-party agent leaderboard (36Kr).
The growth figure comes from Baidu's own AI product ranking on its Baijiahao platform (Baijiahao); independent verification is pending. The open question is whether the deliverable holds up under real workloads.
