OpenAI is letting brands see whether a ChatGPT conversation led to an app install, a purchase, or a subscription. A new integration with AppsFlyer, a mobile-attribution and marketing-analytics platform, closes a months-long measurement gap for the first wave of ChatGPT ad pilot brands.
GrubHub and more than 40 brands across ecommerce, food delivery, and ride-sharing have spent the last four weeks testing the integration, ADWEEK reported exclusively. GrubHub has been in the ChatGPT ads pilot since OpenAI opened it to advertisers in February 2026.
Until now, pilot brands had no clean read on whether the channel converted. Brian Ryu, GrubHub's vp of growth, paid media, told ADWEEK the company had "a limited picture on conversions and attribution" and was "missing a huge chunk of what was happening." The AppsFlyer link covers deterministic in-app events: installs, in-app purchases, and subscriptions.
The integration sits on top of OpenAI's existing ads measurement documentation, which describes a measurement pixel, a conversions API, and setup flows for measurement partners on web and mobile.
What remains unmeasured: upper-funnel brand impact, cross-channel incrementality, and how a ChatGPT-driven install compares with one earned through search or social. AppsFlyer can confirm the event happened, not whether the conversation caused it.
