Anthropic ties Claude in Chrome to your account, so tasks follow you between devices

Ask Claude in Chrome to pull an amount from a vendor tab, then the next, then close the laptop. Open the same task on your phone and the conversation, the skills, and the connector are already there, because the session lives on the user's account rather than the device (Claude in Chrome).

Before this update, browser sessions stayed completely separate from the rest of Claude, so switching devices meant rebuilding the conversation. Now the browser side panel runs as part of the same session, with the same skills and the same connectors (DigitalTrends). The agent can click links, type into fields, and move between pages using the user's existing logins, exactly the surfaces most chatbots cannot reach: internal dashboards, legacy systems, and vendor portals. Anthropic's setup guide walks through one example: open each vendor tab, collect amounts and dates, and start a budget spreadsheet, then resume the same task on desktop, attach local files, and compare against last month.

The same capability is also why Anthropic ships a pre-action check. Before submitting a form, sending a message, or sharing personal information, Claude pauses and re-reads the original request. An assistant that clicks and types behind your logins can be steered by hidden text on the page, a known risk for any agent that reads and acts on web content. Explicit permission is still required for purchases.

Claude in Chrome is live now for Max and Team plans, with Pro rolling out in the coming weeks. Enterprise admins can enable the feature selectively by domain.
