Alibaba's workplace focused QwenWork moves from free public testing to three paid tiers, while the consumer Qwen chatbot stays free.
Alibaba moved QwenWork, its workplace AI assistant, from free public testing to three paid membership tiers, with annual plans listed at 200 yuan (about US$30) at the entry level and 1,499 yuan (about US$209) at the top, per the App Store listing reported by the South China Morning Post. The middle tier sits between those two price points; Alibaba has not publicly itemized the per-tier feature gap.
The consumer Qwen chatbot stays free. QwenWork, a work-productivity agent built on Alibaba's Qwen model family, does not. TechNode confirms the three-tier structure and the 1,499 yuan top plan, and Alibaba has separately listed video-generation credit packs priced between 26 yuan (about US$3.85) and 968 yuan (about US$143) for users who need more than the base allotment.
QwenWork only opened public testing earlier this month, so the price points are a first read on willingness to pay, not a verdict on demand. Workplace conversion at these tiers, and whether the credit-pack add-ons turn into real revenue, will show whether Alibaba is covering its AI bill or just testing one.
