AGCO joins Toyota, GXO, and Schaeffler in piloting the bipedal Digit humanoid robot for parts sorting, stacking, and tote placement.
AGCO, the Duluth, Georgia-based maker of Fendt, Massey Ferguson, PTx, and Valtra farm equipment, will run a 2027 pilot of Agility Robotics' bipedal Digit humanoid at its Hesston, Kansas production facility. The deployment is dated and commercial, not a research demo, per a joint AGCO and Agility release reported by The Robot Report.
Digit's task lane is narrow: parts sorting, stacking, and intelligent placement of totes for storage. AGCO Director of Manufacturing Technology Thomas Enghof says the robot works in "complex, human-centric workflows, augmenting human capabilities by absorbing repetitive, strenuous or hazardous tasks." Digit is mobile and bipedal rather than a fixed industrial arm, so it drops into a factory floor built for people, and Agility says Digit 5 works in close proximity to workers without the physical safety barriers traditional automation requires.
AGCO joins a growing list of companies deploying Agility's humanoid robots, including Toyota, GXO, and Schaeffler. Per Agility, the market has responded to Digit with more than $300 million in multi-year orders and a growing pipeline of customers, a figure the company cited when it unveiled Digit 5 in September 2026. Agility cites more than 65,000 hours of real-world operation, a figure carried into the AGCO release. Independent reporting on pilot economics, ROI, or headcount impact is not yet available.
