The company, formerly Viewbix, still runs the legacy ad tech subsidiaries, and says the 'quantum native' stack is in research and IP filing stages.
Viewbix sold banner ads. Five months after the Tel Aviv company renamed itself Quantum X Labs, it has announced a three-pillar "quantum-native" cybersecurity architecture under a new QuantumQ division, and put former Israeli intelligence chief Yossi Cohen at the head of its Scientific Advisory Board. The company itself says the work is in "active research and IP filing stages" and that "further theoretical validation, simulation, and hardware prototyping [is] required prior to integrated commercial rollout."
The three named protocols do not appear in the academic literature. "LayerQake," "Qatacomb," and "Quantum Verification Suite" are branded names. The standard taxonomy for this category has two lanes: post-quantum cryptography, which is classical algorithms designed to resist attack by a future quantum computer and is being selected through the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology's public process (with the first standards finalized in 2024), and quantum-key distribution, which exchanges encryption keys using properties of quantum physics. "Quantum-native" is an industry-marketing umbrella that can refer to either or both.
The protocol names are company inventions, not standard taxonomy. No peer-reviewed paper, no independent technical validation, and no deployed customer is named in the September 18 announcement. Cohen's appointment is as President of the Scientific Advisory Board, an advisory role rather than an operating one; the release does not disclose equity, compensation, or operational responsibility. CTO Prof. Nir Sharon, an academic with prior university appointments, oversees the technical program.
Defense and critical-infrastructure buyers in Israel, the United States, and the European Union buy on trust signals: who is on the advisory board, who has used the product, who has reviewed the math. A former head of Mossad (Israel's foreign-intelligence service) on an advisory board reads to those buyers as a signal that the company understands how their procurement culture works, even when the science is not yet independently validated. Real procurement in this category is moving. NIST, the U.K.'s National Cyber Security Centre, and the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity have all published post-quantum transition roadmaps, and there is a real market to sell into.
The rest of the company is absent from the release. Quantum X Labs still operates Gix Media and Metagramm, two legacy subsidiaries from the Viewbix era that handle digital advertising and enterprise software, respectively. The release does not say whether those units are funding the quantum R&D burn, being run down as the company pivots, or being prepared for sale. It also leaves out prior QXL/Viewbix shareholder or regulatory history around the April 2026 rebrand.
Three questions sit between the announcement and a contract. First, what is the precise scope of Cohen's advisory role versus any operational or equity interest, and is the appointment registered with Israeli or U.S. regulators who oversee former intelligence officials' outside activities? Second, what is the technical delta between the company's "quantum-native" claims and the post-quantum cryptography standards already moving through NIST's selection process; do LayerQake, Qatacomb, or the verification suite offer a measurable capability above the published PQC baseline, or are they a branding layer over conventional post-quantum code? Third, what is the status of Gix Media and Metagramm: is the ad-tech cash flow underwriting the quantum pivot, and is that cash flow growing, flat, or shrinking?
The next round of disclosures on Cohen's role, the architecture's technical delta, and the fate of the legacy ad-tech units will determine whether the September 18 announcement reads, in hindsight, as a positioning event or a capability claim.
