On the floor of New Brunswick's legislative assembly last month, Bill Oliver, a Progressive Conservative member, read a line into the official record that read like a model's self-edit note: "here's a more natural, flowing version of that section that reads like a legislative speech rather than a series of short points".
The line landed in the middle of a substantive point about advocacy offices. Nobody in the chamber flagged it at the time.
Video of the remarks began circulating on Reddit and Threads earlier this week. CBC News and the Toronto Star have since covered the moment, with the Star framing it as "a growing divide in our society: between the elites, who are only too happy to delegate their duties to the Borg; and the masses, who find this objectionable" (as reproduced by Ars Technica).
